Job Introduction:

Gleeson are recruiting multiple Joinery Apprentices’ to join our passionate, collaborative and respectful teams out on site. Reporting directly to the Site Manager you will be carrying out general Joinery duties on all stages of the construction of Gleeson developments.

Please note this advertisement is for the location specified only, however there will be instances where you may be moved to a different site in order to support your work based evidence in line with training requirements.

Locations in our Tees Valley Tyne & Wear region are as follows:

  • NE17 7BN

Working Hours 

  • 39 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 5.00pm
  • Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm
  • Day / Block release at a college or training provider to obtain a qualification in Joinery

Main Responsibilities:

You will need to demonstrate a passionate approach to Joinery and other aspects of building. The successful candidate will need to be committed to this demanding role, which will involve working indoors and outdoors. As part of the apprenticeship you will be studying a qualification in Joinery which will include both theory and practical work with Gleesons’ chosen training provider.

  • Working as part of a team of professional Joiners on all stages of construction
  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Work is often at height on scaffolding, therefore you need to be ‘good with heights’
  • Ensuring the Joinery of the finished home is of a high standard and presentable
  • Maintain tools and materials
  • Be an effective part of the site team
  • Committed and hardworking, as at times the work can be physically demanding
  • Committed to gaining a Joinery qualification with a willingness to go to a training provider and learn additional theory and practical within this trade
  • Attend onsite reviews with the Early Talent Co-ordinator

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Enjoys outdoor working
  • Excellent communication skills , able to work in a team or on your own
  • Flexible approach to working on different sites
  • Excellent attendance and time keeping skills both on site and at College / Training Provider
  • A requirement to complete functional skills in Maths and English if not already achieved 
  • Prepared to travel to site and college / Training Provider
  • Access to own transport (desirable)
