Assistant Finance Business Partner

Job Introduction

Gleeson is experiencing rapid growth and after the successful introduction of Finance Business Partners (FBPs) to Gleeson last year, we are now looking for Assistant Finance Business Partners who will report directly to the FBPs and will help to enhance the provision of valuable finance support and guidance to the business. 

The Assistant Finance Business Partner will support every department from Operational Management, Sales, Build, Commercial, Technical, Customer Care, Health and Safety and HR. This role has real potential for career progression internally whether that be within Finance to FBP level or other operational functions.

Role Responsibility

Reviewing, analysing, and challenging data in areas such as build rate, sales status, quality, forecasting accuracy and overhead costs

• Attendance to weekly build and sales meetings which form the basis of our unit forecasting and business planning
• Assisting the FBP, you will partner non-finance professionals to help them understand, interpret, and act upon key financial and metric driven data
• Collating and reviewing key site information, and working with land, build and commercial teams to ensure reporting is always up to date
• Supporting the FBP in reviewing site valuations: attending review meetings, quality assuring, validating information, challenging decision making and providing financial support to the commercial teams
• Reviewing the site specific cashflow forecasting produced by commercial teams
• Input into the land purchase business case reviews (gateways) involving review and recommendation as well as complex financial modelling
• Reporting from the COINS system, and being able to make informed judgements and provide insightful commentary on the data
• Regular visits to sites and regional offices to develop operational understanding and develop key relationships
• Ad hoc support as required by various stakeholders across the business, including senior members of both the finance and commercial teams

The Ideal Candidate

• A newly qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA / ACA / ACCA) who is looking to develop their commercial and operational experience
• An ambitious team player with strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
• An inquisitive nature and desire to understand and impact the numbers
• Attention to detail, ensuring that reporting is both accurate and complete
• Ability to present complex data, to those with little finance experience, in a clear way
• A confident IT user with strong Excel skills and an ability to pick up new IT systems quickly
