Assistant Management Accountant

Job Introduction

A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our rapidly growing finance team. The role will be based in our Sheffield Head Office  and will report into our Divisional Finance Manager (North East). Occasional travel may be required to our Regional offices sufficient to build and maintain good relationships within those teams.

This role will support the Finance Manager with the preparation of the monthly management accounts for 3 regional offices, as well as Divisional overheads for the North East Division. They will also be required to ensure that detailed transactional information relating to house sales is completely and accurately maintained, variances against reported results are analysed and understood and support during the budget setting and forecasting process, including cashflow forecasting at site, Regional and Divisional levels. This will require close working relationships with relevant individuals in key departments such as Sales, Build, Land and Commercial.

Role Responsibility

  • Monthly management accounts working closely with the Finance Manager and other Assistant Management Accountants in order to produce the results for the Division, as well as supporting in bringing the Homes results together
  • Accruals, prepayments and fixed asset register
  • Processing house sales transactions and general ledger journals on the COINS IT system
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Understanding variances between reported and budgeted results and communicating these internally as appropriate
  • To work closely with the Divisional Finance Manager and Divisional Finance Business Partner to ensure that the Division receives the support it requires from the finance team
  • Ad hoc analysis as required by the Senior Finance team and the wider business

The Ideal Candidate

  • An individual with practical experience of monthly management accounts processes, ideally suited to either a part-qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA / ACCA / AAT) or an experienced management accountant
  • A confident IT user with strong Excel skills and an ability to pick up new IT systems quickly
  • Attention to detail, ensuring that monthly reporting is both accurate and complete
  • Able to prioritise own workload and manage time in order to meet deadlines
  • A team player with strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
  • Experience of working to tight timescales, in particular month end reporting in a larger business or Plc environment, would be advantageous
