Deputy Commercial Director

Job Introduction

Due to rapid growth and expansion plans Gleeson are looking for a Deputy Commercial Director to support and strengthen the group commercial structure, providing support at the centre to drive change and improve control. As Deputy Commercial Director your focus will be on CVR, cost management and audit.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure the regional commercial teams are fully resourced and well-directed, with clear guidelines to their own job responsibilities, and are provided with full support in achieving these, in terms of communication, training and development
  • Responsible for the approval of the site start budgets, liaising with all regions to ensure documents are completed on time and comply with group policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the approval of monthly valuations, liaising with all regions so that valuations are completed on time and comply with group policies and procedures
  • Attendance at divisional valuation meetings
  • Analyse and report on costs and cash flows
  • Audit all subcontractor recommendations to ensure compliance with group policies and procedures
  • Authorise subcontract orders, payments and variations in line with group policies and procedures
  • Be aware of new materials and methods of construction which the business may employ
  • Responsibility for accurately controlling all commercial aspects and responsibilities
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors as required
  • Any other duties as required by the Group Commercial Director
  • Promote and act in accordance with group values, systems, policies, and procedures

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience of operating in a Senior Commercial Manager role or above (essential)
  • Experience working within a high-volume housebuilding company (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Collaborative, respectful and passionate in their approach to house building
  • Commercially astute
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Team player
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office)
