Job Introduction

The Technical Department within the Head Office at Sheffield have a new and exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the team here at Group to support the Group Technical Director.

Role Responsibility

  • Maintain the Standard House type Portfolio and Standard Details including gap analysis
  • Develop and maintain technical specification to achieve compliance and FHS; with the support of our energy consultants
  • Research and develop opportunities to value engineer specification and product
  • Manage Energy consultants to achieve compliant specifications for future regulatory changes
  • Manage design program set by Group Technical Manager identifying key dates and a critical path
  • Assist the BIM manager with developing BIM into the Gleeson business
  • Manage external consultants to ensure information is provided in accordance with the program
  • Ensure all design information produced is issued to the relevant stakeholders
  • Act upon commercial implications relating to planning and architectural design, civil and structural engineering design
  • Obtain competitive quotations and technically engage with and direct consultants responsible for the above
  • Achieve and maintain Type approval with NHBC, LABC & SBD
  • Interact with internal departments, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors as required
  • Approve subcontract designs
  • Approve Sales and Marketing literature
  • Assist with the implementation of group procedure
  • Provide technical support and solutions through the construction stage and the implementation of appropriate solutions
  • During the development process receive constructive feedback from the build and sales departments and effectively implement amendments
  • Mentor and provide guidance to the Technical Assistant

The Ideal Candidate

  • The role requires a strong residential knowledge ideally from a technical design background of either architectural or engineering (preferably both)
  • Knowledge of the housebuilding industry gained preferably working within a high volume housebuilding company
  • Knowledge of SAP/ HEM preferred
  • Educated to ONC/OND level minimum or currently studying at HNC level in a construction related qualification
  • Experience using AutoCAD / Revit
  • Possess good communication skills
  • A broad technical awareness
