Job Introduction

Gleeson have an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial professional to join our rapidly growing Group Commercial team and provide support to the regions in embedding changes across the business, whilst assisting in improving robustness of cost reporting and encompassing the fantastic morale across the team.

Role Responsibility

Cost reporting has been given the upmost important focus across the Gleeson business and as such we have created the role of Commercial Business Partner to improve consistency and accuracy in reporting across our business, providing the executive team with more certainty of the forecast of costs moving forward.

  • Play a pivotal role in ensuring the valuation process is embedded into the team successfully
  • Challenge regions on assumptions to ensure they are robust and fair
  • Understand the reasons behind the movements in valuations
  • Assist the regions when support is required, across all aspects of the commercial function
  • Ensure regional valuations are reported accurately, and in line with agreed timescales
  • Ensure regional teams are following Group Commercial Policy and Gleeson ways of working across all developments
  • Approve and sign off valuation journals before submitting to finance
  • Consolidate regional valuations into group summary reporting
  • Review of tender appraisals when issued to Group Commercial
  • Monitoring subcontractor procurement deadlines to ensure timely placing of orders
  • General assistance of the running of the Group Commercial Team
  • Assist in tracking gateway progress within region, reporting any business-critical changes in relation to cost and timescales
  • Contribute to the continued development of commercial processes, to ensure we are doing things in the most efficient way and utilising IT/COINS where applicable
  • Assist the regions with COINS related queries

The Ideal Candidate

  • In depth knowledge and experience within the Quantity Surveying field (Senior QS or above) within a high volume housebuilding company 
  • A good understanding of all apects of surveying and contractual procedures
  • Understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry 
  • Good knowledge of commercial and financial managemet systems and controls 
  • Strong personal organisational skills
  • Ability to work in isolation but also as part of a team within a growing business 
  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge and experience of COINS software

Please note that this role requires extensive travel to our operating regions.
