Group Planner

Job Introduction

The Group Planner role provides support to the central planning function, assisting with the coordination, analysis and reporting of planning activity across the Group.

The role is designed to build a strong foundation in planning policy, land promotion, development processes and planning governance, while supporting key business processes such as the land bid gateway and planning pipeline management.

Working closely with both central and regional teams, the role helps ensure that planning information is accurate, consistent and supports effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning Support and Coordination

  • Support the Group Planning team in the coordination of planning activity across regions, ensuring information is accurately captured and shared.
  • Assist in tracking the progress of planning applications and key milestones across the development pipeline.
  • Help maintain central records of planning submissions, consents and conditions.

2. Land Bid Gateway Support

  • Assist in the administration and coordination of planning inputs into the land bid gateway process.
  • Support the collation of information required for land approval submissions, including planning assumptions, risks and timelines.
  • Ensure planning information within submissions is accurate, clearly presented and consistent.

3. Planning Research and Analysis

  • Support research into planning policy, local plans and regulatory changes, summarising key impacts for the business.
  • Assist in analysing site-specific planning constraints and opportunities.
  • Provide support in preparing briefing notes and summaries for senior stakeholders.

4. Consultant and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Assist in liaising with external planning consultants and advisers to gather information and updates.
  • Support the coordination of reports, surveys and documentation required for planning submissions.
  • Help ensure that consultant information is complete, reviewed and appropriately stored.

5. Pipeline Monitoring and Reporting

  • Support the maintenance of a Group-wide view of the planning pipeline, including key sites, timelines and risks.
  • Assist in preparing regular planning status reports, dashboards and updates.
  • Help track performance against key planning milestones and business plan requirements.

6. Administration and Process Support

  • Provide administrative support including document management, data entry and maintaining planning systems.
  • Ensure information is stored in line with Group processes, governance standards and version control requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of planning processes and tools.

7. Learning and Development

  • Actively engage in a structured development programme to build knowledge of: 
    • Planning policy and development management
    • Housebuilding and land acquisition processes
    • Planning risk and viability considerations
  • Seek opportunities to gain exposure to site visits, planning meetings and stakeholder engagement.
