Site Engineer

Job Introduction

Gleeson require a Site Engineer to assist the Site and Technical team on new and historic schemes. The site engineer will have an active role in contributing to the smooth progression and completion of schemes within the Cumbria area.

Role Responsibility

The general duties of the role will include but will not be limited to the following activities:

  • Assisting the site team in the monitoring of sewer installations, reviewing additional works in conjunction with the Technical Manager
  • Setting out and surveying as required on each allocated site, including working alongside our groundwork’s teams checking and setting formation levels. (this will require the full use of total station etc. along with Autocad to produce the actual setting out information)
  • Assisting the site team in conjunction with the Technical Manager on ground works for the site, reviewing at a site level any foundations/ plot drainage or external levels queries, with a view of further value engineering where possible
  • Service installations by way of keeping an update on progress and any upcoming constraints, including assistance in column locations
  • Assist the site team in reviewing areas that can be final surfaced helping to create a better street scene to the development along with the phasing to coincide with section agreements allowing bond reductions
  • Provide updates to the Technical Manager on site progress to allow accurate reporting to the Technical Director
  • Assisting the Technical Manager and site team by attending meetings as required with the statutory undertakers (NHBC, Local Authority, etc.)
  • Review of site material management practices to ensure they are being adhered to and provide information to amend, as necessary. Identifying material that can be re-used helping to keep the development in line with budgets and reducing overspend
  • Liaise with the Technical Apprentice and Technical Manager on any design related issues or amendments required
  • Monthly reviews with the Technical Director on progress

The Ideal Candidate

  • The role requires a good technical knowledge base including setting out “hands on” experience as this is a key part of the role
  • Knowledge of roads sewers and foundations and current regulations
  • Previous experience of working with a House Builder or Contractor that works with developers (not essential)
  • Must possess good communication skills
